He was a German-born French physician, musician, humanitarian, writer, and Nobel Prize winner. From Albert Schweitzer, these words:
At times, our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.
This is a good month to be grateful. (For those of us in Canada, it is the time of our Thanksgiving holiday weekend. For our American friends who read this, you can get a “head” start on your November Thanksgiving holiday.)
I beg you to take some time and write at least one thank-you note to someone in your life who is described by Dr. Schweitzer. Never assume that they know how grateful you are.
Even in a digital world, tangible still rules. Get a blank notecard. Take a pen. Write two or three specific sentences telling that person how he or she has helped you, blessed you, changed you.
Mail (Yes! With a stamp!) or deliver the envelope. By paying this debt of gratitude, you will be sending some joy.
