One of the refining aspects of funeral-attending is the chance to review how I am spending my time. It is not a renewable resource. An hour gone is an hour gone.

In the book called “The Power of Focus” there is a 4-D solution for deciding our priorities and what to do next.

  1. Dump it.  Every “no” we say gives us the freedom and space to say “yes” to a higher priority. (Remember that “No.” is a complete sentence!)

  2. Delegate it. If possible we need to swap, trade, beg, borrow, or pay for services that we are not good at, so we can bless the world with what we do well.

  3. Defer it. Not to be confused with procrastinating, it means scheduling a time to do a truly important task.

  4. Do it. Now.
