Another thought about rushing…
“On every level of life, from housework to heights of prayer, in all judgment and efforts to get things done, hurry and impatience are sure marks of the amateur.” (Evelyn Underhill)
And why is this? I wonder. Perhaps when we are amateurs at some skill, we lunge and rush because we do not have confidence and know what is important. Ahh, there it is:
We can have deep confidence in our God and He will give us an eternal perspective about what is truly important. Then we won’t be amateurs at living life well.
PS: Wise hurry is, of course, needed by first responders and emergency room staff. In their jobs, speed – the measured, skillful kind - can save lives.
