Palm Sunday
It must have seemed to be an odd request that Jesus made to the two disciples. “Go into the next village and you will find a donkey colt. Bring it to Me.”
They did, and Jesus rode this colt on the road into Jerusalem. People lined the road, putting their cloaks and tree branches on the road ahead of Jesus.
The crowd shouted: “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”
( A.W. Tozer took a humorous look at the donkey’s perspective. “Well, I had no idea they really appreciated me like this! Listen to those hosannas, would you. I must be really something!”)

The procession described here was one of many fulfilled prophecies about the Messiah. Jesus accepted the worship given to Him that day. C.S.Lewis said that when Jesus did this, and clearly claimed on other occasions to be God, there are only three possibilities about Jesus: a liar, a lunatic,* or the Lord. (No “nice guy/good teacher” category!)

*Years ago, I took a day - long series of questionnaires and interviews to determine if I was suitable for a certain job. One section had queries like:
Have you ever claimed to be God?
Do you sometimes think that you are Jesus Christ?
If I said “yes” then the psychologist would have deemed me having delusions of grandeur, and not a candidate for the employment position.
