Years ago, I taught a novel called Crabbe by William Bell. In the story, a teen runs away from home, and into the wilderness. He meets a woman who teaches him some survival skills, and also listens to his tale of woe about his parents.
Finally, she says to him: “You grow up on the day you cross the last remaining person off your blame list.”
An ongoing challenge at any age! And sometimes we need to cross God off our blame list too.
