As some of you know, I was not born organized. That is why I am fascinated by thoughts about time and ways to use it well.

Here are a few thoughts from the book: The Art of Stopping Time by Pedram Shojai….

  • Every little “yes” requires some of your attention, brain power, soul, and time.

  • Focus and plug the leaks.

  • Time “earthquakes” are events that rock our use of time and/or our perception of time.

  • “Chunk time” means designate and do that one task.

  • Making adjustments is a mark of maturity.

  • Time waster: emotional indigestion: “woulda, coulda, shoulda”

  • See your life as a garden with room for 5 to 10 plants for watering, feeding, weeding.

Another reason for this fascination: “God has made everything beautiful in its time.” (Ecclesiastes 3:11a ESV) Animals live by instinct and natural environmental cues. No need for time management seminars and meaning of life/productivity classes for rhinos, dogs, and birds.

On the other hand, “God has given human beings an awareness of eternity.” (Ecclesiastes 3:11b CJB)  This gives us the desire to create and contribute, for our actions to have important meaning beyond the scope of our lives here on earth.
