February 2, 2020

It’s Heart Month…in more ways than one. First, reminders about the care of our physical hearts. Second, on February 14, reminders about the care of our romantic relationships. Rarely do we have reminders about what King Solomon said:

“Watch over your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” *

Our hearts – spiritually speaking – often combine our thoughts and our feelings. A powerful duo that influences our words and our actions.

Doctors have many tests they use to determine “heart health.”

Last summer I ran on a treadmill, with wires attached to me, at my cardiologists office. (I passed, but heart health is more complex than this traditional test.)

I think that tests for my “spiritual heart” – part of the “watching over” King Solomon admonishes - could be these questions:

  • What are my thoughts?

  • What are my feelings?

Thoughts and feelings lead to words and actions…and from these spring the issues of life:

Relationships. Habits. Service. Relationships. Money. Time. Relationships Integrity. Creativity. Learning. Relationships.

Have a good week watching over your heart. And may all your issues be good ones!
