It’s “Word of the Year” time! I love to choose a word “theme” at the beginning of each new year. For 2019, mine will be JOY!
This may seem like a frivolous theme; au contraire, it is directly related to our capacity to deal with life. In Nehemiah 8:10 says: The joy of the Lord is your strength. Strength to face challenges, from the source of joy Himself!
Jason Hague’s book - Aching Joy: A Journey Through the Land of Unanswered Prayer- says that we usually expect to have either joy or pain. However, we can have both at the same time.
Whatever word you may choose for 2019, it will affect your reticular activating system. That’s the brain function that is set in motion when, for instance, you want to buy a red truck. Then it seems as if you see red trucks everywhere. It is because your mind notices them better when your intention is to purchase one.
This complex brain system also works if we are looking for what is negative, like problems! Hmmm…
I am going to see lots of JOY this year! What about you?
