December 23, 2018

A little poem for a few days from now. Make a cup of tea or coffee and let the best of the season linger in your heart and mind. How will this affect the way we live in 2019?

                                               Holy Refugees

Twinkle, twinkle little tree,

Simple, yet you speak to me

Of peace and beauty,

So like God –

(The peace and beauty, not the tree.)

The house is quiet,

Guests are gone,

Now another Christmas done.

Polish, glitter, sparkle, see –

It’s all so lovely, I agree

But nothing like

The shining sky near Bethlehem,

When Mary and Joseph welcomed Him.

After the glory of the angels,

And the gifts of the Magi,

And the murderous decree of Herod,

The holy threesome

Became holy refugees.
