Summer is coming soon. And with that season, perhaps some extra reading time for you! Here are some suggestions that I have appreciated.
Memoirs and Biographies
Jesus, My Father, the CIA, and Me by Ian Cron (such a good writer)
Hillbilly Elegy by J.D.Vance (written well before he became Vice President of the United States!)
What in the World? by Leanne Morgan (such fun!)
The Color of Water by James McBride (a white Jewish mom and a black father, hence the title)
Herod and Mary by Kathie Lee Gifford and Bryan M. Litfin (history and fiction)
Any title by Trisha Lott Williford (She writes memorably about grief and abuse and motherhood.)
Delay, Don’t Deny by Gin Stephens (Make sure you get the 2024 updated edition of this intermittent fasting classic guide.)
Fiction
Sensible Shoes – 4 book series by Sharon Garlough Brown (Follow interesting women as they learn spiritual direction.)
The Keeper 4 book series by Charles Martin ( a moving account of the war against human trafficking)
Elinor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman (a quirky, endearing heroine)
Spiritual Growth
The Discipline of Grace by Jerry Bridges (for clear, practical teaching on many topics)
Holiness Here by Karen Stiller (a conversational approach)
Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers by Dane Ortlund
