A little boy stood alone at the bottom of an escalator in a large mall. He parked his feet firmly on the tile floor and kept his eyes fixed on the moving black railing.
Some time passed, and a store owner became concerned. He went to the boy and asked, “Are you lost? Are you okay? What are you doing?”
The young fellow smiled and replied, “Oh, I’m just waiting for my chewing gum to come back.”
We laugh at his explanation. But he does remind us of the power of HOPE, which is my word for this year, 2026.
Someone put it this way: “A person can live 40 days without food, about 3 days without water, 3 minutes without air, but only a few seconds without hope.”
True hope is not fragile, like morning fog. It is more like an anchor for our souls. In the coming weeks I will explain why. Stay tuned…
