Some people call them divine appointments. God set a simple bush aflame for Moses and met him there. So it is not surprising that the washroom at Sears could become a holy place, a “burning bush” for me one day.
I met a former colleague whom I had not seen for a long time. Recently her husband of 40 years had passed away, plus her mother and a good friend. Grief was etched all over her face and her lovely brown eyes brimmed with tears.
We stepped into the hall (the sound of flushing toilets was drowning out my ability to hear her!) and I listened to her story of sorrow.
Before we parted, I took her hands and gave her that beautiful blessing from Numbers 6: 24-26...
The Lord bless you and keep you.
The Lord make His face to shine upon you,
And be gracious to you.
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.
This short blessing is worth memorizing so you can pass it on to someone, someday. (Okay, if you feel shy, print some cards with this prayer on it, and give it to someone who seems to need it!)
No one says it better than God. His words have power and love. You, too, if you use them. Look for a flaming bush this week.
