“Joy” is my word of the year for 2019. (A couple of you have shared your choices with me, such as: “routines” (life-giving ones!) and “release” (letting go of baggage in a life-giving, emotionally- active way). Great choices!
Anyway, here is a quote from Rachel Marie Martin, author of “The Brave Art of Motherhood.”
Sometimes you have to let go of your picture of what you thought it would be like and learn to find JOY* in the story you are actually living.
So freeing and so true. (Truth sets us free, said Jesus.) For fun, I am going to quote an innocent comment I got from my four year old grandson last week. As I helped him put on his socks, he noticed the shadow of my head on the wall.
“Oh, Grandma. Your hair looks like a haystack!” Joy…because my hair can only improve! Hope you have a good hair week in the story you are actually living. And of course, joy!
