Small can lead to big. Small bits guide big horses. Small rudders steer large ships. Small sparks start huge fires.
In the book of James, he says that our tongues are like this: though they are small parts of our bodies, they are incapable of being tamed and controlled well. He says that if we make no mistakes in what we say, we are perfect! Ouch. Anyone out there claiming this? Not me.
He goes on to remind us that with our tongues we “bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing…this ought not to be so.” (James 3:9.10)
Sobering, to say the least. God help us.
